The Wilmot Boys Gave All

The 23 year old farmer, from Wilmot County, Ontario took part in the daring raid, behind German lines at Miglionico and the assault on the Adolf Hitler Line prior to making the ultimate sacrifice on the banks of the Canale Naviglio shortly before the war's end. A street, in Baden, Ontario is named for him.

Pte. C.J. Fessler beside his jeep in the Netherlands March 1945. Fessler was the driver for Major E. 'Davie' Fulton, DAAG for 1 Canadian Infantry Division and responsible for moving 1 CID from Italy to the Netherlands in the spring of 1945.

Officers' caravan - Operation Goldflake

Major E. 'Davie' Fulton was DAAG for 1st Canadian Infantry Division, and later Minister of Justice in Diefenbaker Government, and responsible for coordinating the move of 1CID from Italian theatre to Northwestern Europe theatre in the spring of 1945. On his left is Pte. C.J. (Bud) Fessler, his driver. The third soldier is J. Marshall. All three were members of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Following the war, Fulton would bring Fessler to work with him in Ottawa.
